What is Bursitis?

Bursitis is a common medical condition that will affect the majority of Americans at least once in their lifetime. Similar symptomatically to tendonitis, bursitis is caused by an inflamed bursa, a sac of lubricating fluid surrounding a joint. Bursitis most often manifests in the knees, hips, shoulders and elbows, and results from either repetitive, minor impact on the area, or a localized trauma.
